Umbrella Cockatoo
Umbrella Cockatoos are fairly needy, but extremely loving. Total length is approximately 45 cm, and an average weight will be 600 to 700 grams, although they can range as small as 460 grams and as large as 750 grams.
These birds can be very loud, and being so makes them unsuitable for apartments and small dwellings.
When he wants to be, an Umbrella can be very destructive of his toys and cage. Be prepared to have a big toy budget with these guys, or just lots of 2 x 4's! A well made cage, purchased in the beginning, will alleviate having to buy another cage after only a year or two. Cage size is only adequate at 36" x 24"
When provided with a proper environment, these birds will be a pet that will reward you over and over again for your correct care. Wonderful with children, all family members, and a bird that will welcome even strangers holding them and providing attention!
Feed a pelleted diet, veggies, well cooked eggs and white meat, and an occasional nut mix.
