Senegals are one of the Poicephalus group of parrots. 9 to 10 inches in size, they are beautifully colored in orange and greens.

They may do a good job of vocalization and can be snuggly and sweet with their people. They love to bath so water dishes should be placed where they cannot contaminate food dishes or dampen tents and snugglies.

Feed these darlings a high quality pelleted diet with fresh veggies, grains, pasta and fruit. Also include some treats of mixed nuts/seeds.

Cages should be large enough to accomodate toys, a snuggly, different sized perches and still allow the bird to open it's wings and flap. 24" x 24" is suggested. Not cage destructive, you can buy a larger cage, inexpensively, as you usually don't have to be concerned with an escaping bird.

A lifelong companion, these birds will adapt to the attention level you provide. Handle them daily, give them plenty of time with you out of their cage and you will be rewarded with their sweet personalities.
