The large and in charge Scarlets can actually range in size from a quite small big Macaw to a large, quite heavy, bigger Macaw.
These birds need to know who's the boss, and love to be stimulated by learning tricks and games. Sometimes considered to be "bitey", it's really more of a little love pinch, or nip, that they are famous for. A quick little "jiggle" or short "drop" of the arm will teach them to associate a momentary "off balance" feeling with unacceptable behavior, and your loving, gentle. most beautiful Macaw will emerge.
A large, well made cage, a healthy, varied diet of pellets, fruit, veggies and seed/nut mixture, plenty of toys and a playstand for lots of out of the cage time are mandatory for this Macaw.
