Mitred Conure
Mitred Conure These affectionate birds are intelligent and bond strongly with their people. Native to South America, they are found in Peru. Gorgeous green with bright red markings, they are approximately 15 inches in length.

Mitred Conures have a tail longer than most conures, and this should be considered when housing them. A larger cage, with perches higher up in the cage, so as not to bang the tail and create ragged tail feathers, is a consideration. Conures being somewhat messy, the cage should have seed guards to catch what might fall.

They love to bath and should be allowed to do so regularly. Either a spray bottle with nice hot water or allow them to shower with you, right in your own shower! They will live approximately 25 years and when fed a diet of pellets, fruit, veggies, some grains and nuts, they will lead healthy lives.

Most of the conure species are loving and snuggly with all family members, so the Mitred might be a good choice in a household with children, or for a first time bird experience. Not usually great talkers, they are capable of speech, and I'm sure there are those out there, who have learned dozens of words from close interaction with their people.

$399 UNWEANED, ON THREE HAND FEEDINGS DAILY, TO EXPERIENCED HAND FEEDERS ONLY.

$499 WEANED ON A PELLETED DIET.
