Lillac Crown

The Lillac crowned amazon is native to Mexico. Approximately 13 inches in length, slightly smaller than the common Yellow Nape, Double Yellows and Blue Fronts.

These Amazons are often even tempered and might be a good family choice. They seem to enjoy interaction with children and are not so likely to bond with only one family member.

They are voracious chewers, so provide plenty of toys that can be destroyed to keep their beaks in good shape. A cage does not have to be expensive, as they are usually not destructive in that nature. 32" x 23" is a recommended size.

Feed them a high quality pelleted diet. Veggies, fruit, pasta, eggs and white meat. Watch the fat in their diet as, like all amazons, they can be overweight if not provided enough exercise.

The lillac crown can be an important family member for forty to fifty years, so select this species knowing you will be rewarded for many years to come.
